To bless your home's fireplace

Ingredients:
6 branches of laurel or 6 leaves of an oak, along with some aromatic herbs (lavender, verbena, sagebrush, juniper etc).
Coarse salt. 3 White candles.

Instructions:
Burn the laurel branches or the oak leaves and herbs in the fireplace. Collect some of these ashes with a spoon.
Light the three white candles, placing them around the fireplace.
Throw a handful of the mixture of salt and ash from the herbs into the fireplace, saying:

«By the power of the goddess and all the fire spirits,
I consecrate this fireplace.
Blessed be! Blessed be!

May all the fires that burn here
can fill this house with heat,
and the light of love,
and eternal happiness,
So be it!"

In old times, many people believed that there were beneficial spirits that inhabited the fireplace and protected the house and its occupants from thieves, evil spirits and witchcraft.
In the fireplace fire you can burn herbs to smoke the house and repel bad energy.

Examples: Angelica root (Angelica archangelica), anise (Pimpinella anisum), carnations (the spice), coriander (Coriandrum sativum), hart's-tongue (Phyllitis scolopendrium), Laurustinus root (Virburnum tinus), lavender, verbena, lemon (bark), lilac buds (Syringa Vulgaris), oak leaves and branches, lily root (Lilium L), rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus), rose petals, St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum), violets, rue (Ruta graveolens) and eastern teaberry (Gaultheria procumbens).
